In the early centuries of the Arabo-Islamic civilization a great number of sources from the past and from other cultures shaped the medical practice, not without an original elaboration. Authorship in its different forms played an important role in this process, and the authorial attribution also worked as system to label and organize medical knowledge. This presentation will offer an overview of this process in a number of different sources.
