TEACHING
Research in Topoi was closely related to teaching at Freie Universität, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin or one of the partner universities. The central themes of the Topoi project were explored in a multitude of courses on various levels. BA and MA students benefited not only from the cooperation between the universities and various partner institutions, but also from the fact that findings from toplevel interdisciplinary research were integrated into university teaching. There was a wide choice of formats – from standard seminars and lectures integrated in the ongoing academic curriculum of the universities to the central “Topoi lecture series” open for a broad academic and non-academic audience.
MSc PROGRAMME LANDSCAPE ARCHAEOLOGY
The MSc programme Landscape Archaeology evolved from interdisciplinary cooperation in Topoi. The cross-departmental, inter-university programme (participating are Freie Universität Berlin and Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft Berlin) combined the academic disciplines Physical Geography, Prehistoric Archaeology and Excavation Technique. The MSc programme was directly linked to the BerGSAS PhD programme Landscape Archaeology and Architecture. Both the M.Sc. curriculum “Landschaftsarchäologie” and the B.Sc. and M.Sc. curricula “Geografische Wissenschaften” at Freie Universität Berlin offer project seminars on a regular basis, often in cooperation with Topoi.

TOPOI SEMINAR SERIES
Topoi offered continuous series of seminars for a university audience:
Mehr als Schätze und Abenteuer
Starting in summer semester 2017, this annual BA/MA seminar (organized by Nina Diezemann and Hauke Ziemssen) discussed traditional and new forms of public communication in ancient studies – from articles in popular journals, interviews, and institutional press offices to social media, blogs, or science slams.
Visitors from Heaven, Visitors to Heaven
The seminar series (2016-2018, organized by Florentina Badalanova Geller and Rainer Kampling) was a cooperation between Topoi and the German-Israel Fund Project “Visitors from Heaven, Visitors to Heaven: Judeo-Christian Encounters and the Last Lingua Sacra of Europe”.
Digital Classicist Seminar Berlin
The Digital Classicist Seminar Berlin was inspired by and connected to London’s Digital Classicist Work in Progress Seminar. It was organized in cooperation with the German Archaeological Institute (DAI). Since 2012/2013 the seminar series ran every winter term in the Topoi house Dahlem. The seminar was part of the academic program of the Freie Universität under the name “Digitale Methoden in den Altertumswissenschaften”. http://de.digitalclassicist.org/berlin/.
Dahlem Seminar for the History of Ancient Sciences
The six Dahlem Seminar series (2012-2016) were organized by Topoi professors Mark Geller and Klaus Geus. Every semester, international experts in various fields of the study of ancient science present their research in the Topoi house Dahlem.
TOPOI LECTURE SERIES
Starting in 2015, Topoi organized a central “Topoi lecture series” every semester. Key topics of the cluster were presented to a broad academic and non-academic audience. In some cases additional BA/MA seminars were offered.
