The dissertation project focuses on the study of early Christianity (3rd-6th century) in the region of Thrace.
Research
The Christian epigraphic testimonies, the bishop’s lists of ecumenical councils and the historical testimonies belong to the essential primary sources from which the dissertation draws its conclusions. The aim is to assess its significance within the framework of contemporary historical and archaeological research and with the help of specialist literature, so that a well-founded study of the spread and development of early Christianity on the lower Danube can be made possible.
The dissertation is related to the Topoi project Inscriptiones Christianae Graecae (ICG) and is beeing written within the program Ancient Languages and Texts (ALT) of the Berlin Graduate School of Ancient Studies (BerGSAS).
