Julia Schönicke investigates the diversity, (dis-)continuity and (in-)stability of abandonment processes in Göbekli Tepe during the transition from foraging societies to a producing way of life.
Research
By means of an intra-settlement small-scale stratigraphical and architectural analysis, processes of modification, recycling, re-use and abandonment are made visible and integrated into an operational chain of building use. While comparing the results with other contemporaneous sites of Upper Mesopotamia, Julia Schönicke reconstructs early Neolithic ways of life in the investigated areas.
