Aim of the dissertation is a German translation of the 54 chapters of the Greek text De internis affectionibus.

Research

De internis affectionibus (The Inner Diseases) is an ancient Greek text, probably written in the fourth century BC. It is one of the about 60 texts that we summarize as Corpus Hippocraticum. De internis affectionibus is an important testimony to the understanding of disease and the treatment of internal diseases in ancient Greek medicine. The aim of the dissertation is a German translation of the 54 chapters of the thesis, which is technically up-to-date and as close as possible to the traditional Greek text, as well as a medical-historical commentary on selected passages.

This Ph.D. thesis is being written within the program History of Ancient Science (HistAS) of the Berlin Graduate School of Ancient Studies (BerGSAS).
